Schooled.

Im not in the best mood at the moment. I woke up this morning feeling so pissed off for reasons I can't explain. That can't be good for me.

I'm going to start school again in the very near furure and I have mixed feelings about it. I'm sitting in my chair and wondering why I would put myself through another semester. I'm going to be waking up every morning a few more hours away from another three hour session in which I will be asked to regurgitate four months worth of educational material inside a small blue book. This regurgitation of material is all for a greater quest to receive the first letter of the alphabet scrawled in red ink from a ball point pen across the front of my work by a professor who would probably rather be else where just as much as I myself would like to be. we find ourselves doing daily battles on quiet library floors in preparation for our scholarly showdowns. Somehow trying to ignore the simultaneous vibration of the cell phone and the ever present Facebook updates while absorbing the difference between the zooplankton which inhabit the Benthic Zone and those who roam freely in the open ocean. Hah, “roaming free” is the last phrase that should come anywhere near the subject matter of this post. It seems like all of my heroes dropped out of college. None the less, onwards we press.

Now don’t get me wrong. I am not a spoiled bastard of a child who doesn’t realize how blessed I am for the opportunity to receive an education. Just understand that it is a frustrating thing to be told that you have to pay for, and register for meaningless classes in order to graduate with that illustrious pieces of paper. The entire process and run around seems entirely backwards but none the less necessary today, and what’s even more saddening is that a bachelor’s degree is no longer even a marker of somewhat assured success in today’s world. Ask any one of the recent college graduates who are back at home searching for jobs where their degrees are as common as the paper on which they are printed. It sounds like a bad Kanye West College Dropout skit but it’s the truth. Maybe I need to find my own inner dropout and spend a summer following my passions like Mr. West and countless others once did. Sounds like a good plan to me. Fishing expeditions, writing of substance, and the greatest modeling career the P.I. has ever seen WOOOOO (shout out to my buddies Drew and Lee) here I come.

A Food Blog?

So I guess I couldn’t be on my blog shit and not write about some kind of food experience. I participate in this coma inducing eating experience known as Korean BBQ. This is by far the best thing that I have eaten in years since I used to eat shabu shabu all the time in Japan.  Imagine a waitress walking up to your table and dropping a heaping pile of what looks like the lunch meats your mom used to pack for you in elementary school surrounded by a plethora of life changing additives. I don’t even know what I was eating, I just know it was amazing. I don’t like blogging about the food I ate, you guys know that-but when it is this good…you have to make exceptions. It was a good way to cap off the nite with Aimee for her Birthday.

lovelovelove

Happy birthday to my girlfriend Aimee!

Back Again.

Busy? Sure. Planning the return to school? Without a doubt. A little lazy? Probably some of that as well. All of that contributed a fair deal but at the end of the day friends, the whole drive to hop on the horse here and get to business has been seriously lacking. I’m not going to go into my whole dictation on the state of the blog world again, we’ve heard that about 4 times too many as it is, but I will say that I am not going to give up on blogging. The new experience I have planned will be a new inspiration to really take this whole form to a new plateau which inherently will result in me actually wanting to do posts multiple times a day. When I feel like I’m stuck in a rut it gets difficult to feel inspired to post, the ability to innovate and feel like I’m bringing some new to the table is what really brings me back at the end of the day.

So on that note, I appreciate your guy’s patience for rocking with the blog through these days of literary and visual abstinence. In the mean time through this somewhat dry spell I give you a picture that my daughter made of  an extremely jovial picture of me holding a pose with a cat. Amazing yeah?

1997

Dom Kennedy serves up some visuals to accompany this Summer’s West Coast soundtrack. “1997″ to me was the stand out track from Dom’s last tape, From The Westside With Love, so it’s only proper that it gets the full video treatment.

if I don’t start seeing this on MTVU at the very least, I say riots are in order.

I’ve said it many times before in my writing and I will continue to make sure that it is said. Dom Kennedy has next where the West Coast is concerned. If these record label folks don’t see it, then they continue to prove again and again that they’re blind and out of touch with the industry. Never mind a rushed and oblivious XXL review, Kennedy spits raps that seem to come as natural as wearing flip-flop’s and socks in his first major print appearance.

Not to mention the fact that Kennedy seems determined to make sure the only thing that leaves his camp are quality, completed projects. You don’t see random leaks and throw away tracks on off days. If there’s a method to this industry madness, they have the recipe.

The video is a continuation of Kennedy’s laid back approach. Simple but dramatic, the video is an entrance to a larger national stage, a statement of purpose. Hard work be payin’ off but only if you can manage to just be cool along the way. I speak for the rest of the Team and myself when I say that we’ll be supporting on the journey

More About Nothing.

If you have read the Away Team blog for more than a little while than you know that I am an enormously profossed fan of Wale. I came across his music well over 2 year ago now and since as a result of my love for the DC native I can rap just about every lyric from the first mixtape and some of Attention Deficit. Not only that but my friends might even be larger fans than myself at this point. It’s great when you love an artists and you can get excited about new music.

Click Here to Listen to Wale&Wiz Khalifa - The Breeze.

it’s just a well crafted song. A little more pop than what I would normally expect from Wale but again, it’s amazing to see where an artist developed from. I think Wiz's chorus alone is enough to merit this track seeing some heavy replay around my room and car for the next week.
